I am using a JC-4 on top of a flat building.

This is working really great with just 12 meter wire connected.

Big signals and working better compared to Cushcraft R5 and R7. It is very use full that I can switch antenna A and B remotely. So I did connect a short wire for the higher bands and a longer wire for 40,80 and 160 meter.

Casper,

1/ Tuning

De afstemming is héél snel. Doorgaans ongeveer 2 seconden.

Hi Casper

I would like to inform you about my success stories with the JC-3.

I made contacts directly overseas on 10 and 20 meter to the States and Australia Down Under.

Since I installed the JC-3 I made many contacts. I do send you some pictures and I invite you ofcours to publish them on your website. The dipole which I constructed consist of 2 equal length of 3 mm diameter aluminum.

I constructed some wires to prevent bending of the aluminium. The dipole is constructed about 12-13 meter from the ground level. I can turn it 360 degrees with a rotator.

I can tune this dipole from 3,5 Mhz until 52 Mhz without any problem. Super!!

Best auto-tuner I have work with..

About the tuner

I have now use JC-4 it for 2 week and he works always 100% with my Anan 100D transceiver + VL 1000 1kw amp.
This antenna tuner have 2 antenna input and I can remote control him to switch antennas.
On Antenna input A I have 13 meter (43 feet) vertical whip and on antenna input B I have 13 Meter(43feet) horizontal wire.
This antenna tuner tune both of my antenna 1.1 to max 1.3 SWR on all band from 1.8 MHz to 29 MHz and in less than 3 sec , relay fast and I am extremely happy with JC-4 (always less than 3 sec) I have own SGC 200W and 500W and MFJ 998RT And JC-4 is not a question the best.
Antenna house is waterproof, not just weatherproof like many other tuners
You can connect him to must radio that have auto tune connector use the simple control box that is included and then he works on all radio. I only use around 10W to tune and it works 100%
When look inside the box I see Professional tuner I would believe is made for military or Aircraft, he do not look like tuner for radioamator use.
Only negative part is the remote control connector on the house, you must cover him with waterproof tape as that connector is not waterproof, Owner told me there are working on new connector.
I give this tuner 9.5 of 10 as of the -0.5 for the remote connector.
Final word, This is the best waterproof auto- antenna tuner I have own.

Fast & Easy!                                  Time owned: 0 to 3 months
I've had the tuner for two days, and will do a follow-up review after a few months.
I run a K3 with a Yaesu FL-7000 amplifier that makes up to 700W CW on 40M with peaks of 800W PEP on SSB.
I had a popular brand name desktop tuner which worked OK, but I was getting RF in the house.  I decided to try a remote tuner.  I came across the reviews on this page and decided to give the JC-4 a try.
I ordered the tuner (14 days shipping from EU) and ran a control wire and soldered the connector to the antenna-end while waiting. The documentation is available on the stockcorner.nl web site.  One thing that is unclear is that the small control box is included with the tuner.
I have an end-fed Zepp that shows 5:1 on 160M and 3:1 on 80M.  My first attempt at tuning with the JC-4 was surprising.  It took about three seconds.  I really thought it was too good to be true.  (The old tuner took up to 30 seconds.)  After using it for several hours at varied power levels across all bands, I can say I would enthusiastically recommend it to those of you that need a remote tuner and are not running legal-limit power (It's limited to 1,000 watts, and they do have another model for that.)
The quality of construction and parts is outstanding.  It's also nice to have the relay noise outside the shack.  :-)
The I can't complain about the mic connector as mentioned on another review.  You just have to seal it to your own liking.  I do the same thing to the RF connectors, so it's really not a big deal.
Good hamming!!!

Hi Casper:
First impressions of the JC-4 tuner.
My LW is composed of a .6mm diameter SS wire, extended between my balconey and the building across the park.
My balconey is on the 8th floor ant the other end of the wire is on the 10th floor so it is slightly slanted.
The length is about 36m.
I have a counterpoise, made of a 2mm square copper antenna wire, vertical, running along the wall of the building.
The length of the counterpoise is about 21m. This vertical wire is practically invisible and the LW is also very difficult to see.
The feedline is standard rg.213 coaxial.
I have tried the box on all bands from 160m to 10m. I tune with about 12W AM carrier.
So far it has worked like a charm, takes a couple of seconds to tune to very low SWR.
I will give some figures when I have time but it is very low.
the antenna works well, it is not on open sapce, it is between two buildings in the city of Geneva (very close to the ITU by the way) so I cannot expect miracles, but it works well, I have contacted LU and PY on 10m, apart of course from numerous european stations.
Take this as  a first impression, but  the JC-4 is a great tuner!!
I will send you pictures and more comments.

Was ich bisher gesehen habe, gefällt mir.

Hallo Stockcorner, hallo Casper !

Hallo Casper.

For several days I'm experimenting with the JC-4 tuner, first on dummyload without amplifier.

Then on a dummyload with amplifier (800W), the last two days with an amplifier to the a real antenna.

In all cases - I have had great results. When setting up a long time - heated coils, it's not a big problem.

After a few times, I learned to tune quickly. The tuner works quickly and stable, I'm fully satisfied with it.

Thank you.

Short preliminary feed back from LA6DFA
I have now been able to test the coupler on several antennas, and it seems to "eat" almost anything.
10m high vertical, 13m high vertical and 12m high vertical with 17m horizontal as inverted L. Instantly 1:1.1 tuning from 10 to 80m.
Used it also on a bobtail for 20m. Letter E tilted over. Three-1/4 wave verticals and two horizontal 1/2 wave phasing lines.
Tuned 1:1.1 and I could work Indonesia and the US. Tuned on all other bands also (just testing) , but this antenna is 20m long.
I will continue to experiment, and the next is voltage feed half square for 20m. It is more manageable than the full Bobtail.
Not the same gain as the bobtail, but still better than a single vertical I guess.

Thanks for a great  toy.
Roger

DG4AO did write about a JC-3 (modified to ladderline) :

John KI6PU from CA, USA comments about his JC-4s:

Hi Casper,

I just wanted to let you know that I am very happy with the JC-4s tuner. Several months ago I began searching for a remote tuner to help reduces the losses over 110 feet of coax. Once the tuner arrived I began trying several different configurations of wire and finally I settled on a G5RV type dipole fed with 600 ohm open wire transmission line. A 1:1 current balun is installed between the output terminals of the tuner and the open wire transmission line. So far I have not noticed any RF problems in the shack even though I run about 600 watts at times. The new manual for the JC-4s is a valuable source of information using the tuner with various types of antennas. Frits PA0FRI, wrote an excellent review of the JC-4 using dipole type antennas, see the link on your website. Your customer service is excellent as I had several problems with coax connectors that prevented the tuner from operating. After you made several suggestions, I resolved the problem at my location and the JC-4s works perfectly. I value excellent customer service, as provided by Casper, which is extremely important if the customer has a problem. The tuner is ground mounted and is covered with plastic dish pan as a cover for the tuner to protect it from the weather.

The JC-4s arrived in about a week and was well packed so there was no damage. I like the heavy duty construction and quality parts used to assemble the tuner. Operating the tuner is a pleasure as it delivers the maximum amount of power to the antenna. Using the JT-65 mode, the operating range at my station improved to over 10,000 miles on 40 meters which opens up new DX possibilities.

Again, thanks for helping me to make my operations more efficient and pleasurable.

Marcus, DK1WP with his loop antenna solution :

Hi Casper

The Tuner works very well at the 160m loop. The antenna will matched from 20m to 160m. Before the tuner is a 1:1 balun installed.

You can print in your operating instructions the Loop Antenna :-)

I'm very satisfied and thanks for all!

Gerben PG5M showed the results of his nice JC-4 setup:

For some time I wanted an antenna for the low bands and in my situation it was more convenient to have a single antenna. I considered dipole with open feed line and long wires. In both cases, I needed a tuner. Have been considering various options and different tuners (S-match, autotuner, etc.) but could not make a final choice. Had also several e-mail exchanges with Casper and he offered to send me a tuner so I could try. Casper did know me from the past catching DX stations. I accepted this great offer and after I received the tuner, I quickly installed it. When doing the first tests I quickly decided that this was the tuner I needed. It works very fast and I can tune on all bands 160-30m (where I use an inverted L antenna), although I can also easily tune it on all other bands.

I have placed the tuner on the wall of the garage, made a good connection to the grounding system (also used for my tower) and which is also connected to a radial system. Further I have the vertical wire fixed to a metal stand-off via a tension spring. This gives some extra length during heavy wind but also avoids the tuner to be damaged when a branch of a tree would hit the wire.

Once I had decided to buy the tuner, I wanted to adapt it to my personal situation and wishes as follows:

The control box I found to small and I wanted to have something more solid on the shelf and also having two LEDs for indication of antenna A or B. The control box also has a connection for the 12V DC power supply (I use a power supply of a cable modem). On the back of the box is the 12V DC connector, the 6-pin connector for the control cable and the option for the wire to be connected to the station earth.

On the tuner I replaced the 4-pin connected by a watertight 6-pin connector. In order to feed the minus of the power, I made a jumper to the ground connection of the coax connector. The shield of the control cable was jumpered to the ground terminal (see picture). All wires are now going through the cable (+, -, A/B, Tune, Start). See the schematic for the details.

I’m very happy with this tuner and the modifications. Can now also easily tune on 60m when we are allowed to operate on that band.

Inverted V endfed, 23m, ~10m up, ends down to 3-4m, Ground: wire and a fence. fed by ~40m Ecoflex10/~40m controlwire (4x0,75).
Not much to say. The JC-4s does what it should do. Every frequency I used got a SWR 1:1.
I installed the tuner, connect the wires and everything works, no bad surprise.
Put down the power, tune the JC-4s (wich is very fast), put up the power and operate. The system stays in tune.
Great job!
And Mr. Casper ... I had only questions by e-mail (one year ago, without buying) and the answer came very quick, always friendly; nice conversation. Now my old tuning system had problems, so I ordered the JC-4s. I had nice contact to Casper again, very quick and friendly answer and ... after ordering it took ~ 3 days I received the tuner!

Thank you Casper for the nice service and the nice working JC-4s.

After a few months of use

Name : Wolfgang

Callsign : HB9RYZ

Product : JC-4s 1kw ATU

This is the best tuner I ever used for 1kW. I’m using an Inverted-V with only two short legs of 6.5m each and an 10m ladder line (wireman) from the tuner to the antenna. I can easy tune 10-80m with such a small Inverted-V antenna. I installed an 1:1 current balun (1771ts) from Balun Designs between the ladder line and the tuner output. From the tuner on the top of my roof to the shack is an 28m long RG-213 Ecoflex Plus coax which is connected to my Expert 1K-FA amplifier and then to my transceiver IC-7700. I have absolutely no HF in my shack with the configuration.  just after the Digital Wattmeter LP-100A shows me the exact SWR and power.

You can see a lot of pictures on my website www.hb9ryz.ch

Thank you Casper for such an excellent 1Kw remote tuner J

Aloha Casper

I put the tuner into service yesterday. I am tuning my 80m full wave delta loop from one corner. The base of the delta is about 41 meters, and the center is up about 8 meters. The tuner is fast and I can move from the bottom of the band to the top in a few seconds. Awesome!
I have a very robust 1:1 tuner balun rated at 5 KW that is specifically designed for 160 to 30 meters and it is right at the output of the JC-4s. I find that if I switch from A to B there is no difference in tuning so the balance is good with that balun.
80 meters is very good, 40 meters is also easy to tune. 30 meters is not so easy but the reactance is extreme on the band. 20 meters tunes well also does 17 meters and 15 meters.
The very surprising thing is it also tunes the 80 meter delta loop on 160 meters, that is really amazing.
I am very happy with it and will either buy one more of the JC-4s or go to the higher power version.

PE0MVJ about a JC-4s.

 Hello dear Casper,

Using the JC-4s 1kW-version for 2 years now and it works like a champ.
No problem, no failure, no malfunction.
The tuner is an extremely solid construction.
No fear using my PA to blow 750W in it.
Just added the ON7FU current balun in januari 2018 to optimize the antenna.

The Stockcorner-team makes a fantastic job. Stay tuned...

best 73s de Mathias, DK4BM

Dag Casper,

'ham and eggs') is.

Een hartelijke groet, Paul ON2PCO a Dutchman in Belgium

Hi Casper

I would like to take the opportunity to thank you for the wonderful tuner.

It arrived safe and sound and was extremely well packed including additional packaging inside the tuner which was excellent.

On opening the tuner to remove the internal packaging I must say that the overall build quality was outstanding and a great deal better than all the other manufactures I have seen.

I duly installed the tuner at the base of my 60 foot inverted L antenna running several 60 foot counterpoise and ground radials and found the tuner would tune every band from 160 to 10m no problem.

I must say that the results have been spectacular, I am now regularly working into Japan, US and South Africa, the former being very difficult previously from this location.

I have to say that this is probably one of the best buys I have ever made in amateur radio.

Many thanks once again for an excellent product and I wish you every success for the future

Kind Regards

Simon , M0GBK

Eigenbau Antenne DG9MDM

 DO1MDE,

Today I could finally try out the new ATU JC4S. I run an inverted vee antenna with 2 x 18 meters wire length. A 9-meter 450-ohm two-wire line leads from the feedpoint down to the automatic tuner, which is installed in a weatherproof housing at the bottom of the mast. From there it goes with a 25 m coax cable to the shack ..... My first tests gave an excellent result. From 10 - 160 m an excellent SWR without the slightest problem - and the antenna is tuned within fractions of a second. Finally, the operation of my power amplifier with full power is finally possible ... I am absolutely thrilled. Casper - the tuner is a great thing ..... I'm looking forward to the weekend when I can really go full throttle. 73 from southern Germany! DO1MDE
